DUBAI: The Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 concluded today at the Dubai World Trade Centre, breaking new records in attendance, industry engagement, and technological innovation.
The four-day event, held from 28 April to 1 May, welcomed over 55,000 travel and tourism professionals from 166 countries, reflecting a 16% year-on-year growth. With more than 2,800 exhibiting companies, ATM 2025 has firmly cemented its place as the leading global platform for travel and tourism stakeholders.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the exhibition and received an in-depth overview of this year’s focus on cross-sector collaboration and future-forward innovations. His presence underscored Dubai’s leadership in shaping global tourism trends and reinforcing the emirate’s position as a hub of innovation, growth, and sustainability in the travel industry.
Exponential growth
The 32nd edition of ATM was organised by RX Global under the theme “Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity”, exploring how tourism can be strengthened through innovation, partnerships, and inclusivity. This theme resonated throughout the event’s diverse pavilions, stages, and networking zones.
Growth was witnessed across all show verticals. The Middle East recorded a 19% increase in participation, followed by Asia with 20%, Europe with 17%, and Africa leading with a 21% rise year-on-year. Asia emerged as the fastest-growing region, driven by improved regional connectivity and deeper integration with international markets.
Beyond the GCC, the top international visitor markets were India (6%), Türkiye (3.2%), the UK (3%), Egypt (3%), the US (2%), China (1.5%), Sri Lanka (1%), Spain (1%), Maldives (1%), and Pakistan (1%).
Technological advancements
One of the event’s standout sectors was ATM Travel Tech, which posted a remarkable 26% growth this year. Over 100 companies displayed next-gen travel technologies aimed at transforming user experiences and streamlining operations. A newly launched Start-Up and Innovation Zone provided a platform for 21 emerging companies to showcase disruptive ideas, including immersive VR travel demos and AI-based itinerary planning solutions.
The evolution of technology within tourism was further underscored through panel discussions and workshops hosted across the Global Stage, Future Stage, and the newly introduced Business Events Stage, as part of the IBTM@ATM segment. These sessions brought together more than 200 global speakers across 70+ sessions.
Hospitality highlights
The hotel and accommodation sector experienced 12% growth, with all major international hotel chains participating in ATM 2025. This increase reflects the industry’s rebound and preparedness for growing global demand. Discussions during the ATM Conference highlighted new investment corridors, the changing face of sustainable luxury, and technology’s role in enhancing the guest journey.
The newly introduced IBTM@ATM initiative brought the business events community into sharper focus. With the presence of entities like the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), and the World Energy Council, the zone became a key meeting ground for MICE professionals.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, officially inaugurated the event, while His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, visited the show floor and engaged with key exhibitors.
Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME, Arabian Travel Market, said: “This year’s theme of global connectivity was not just discussed – it was lived on the show floor. The unmatched turnout and participation reaffirm ATM’s role as a vital accelerator for tourism innovation and global collaboration.”
Held across 12 exhibition halls, ATM 2025 was the largest edition in the event’s history. Compared to last year’s figures – 48,000 total attendees and over 2,550 exhibitors – this year saw significant jumps across key metrics, reinforcing ATM’s reputation as a cornerstone of the international travel calendar.
Now part of Arabian Travel Week, ATM continues to set the pace for how tourism, hospitality, and technology can intersect to foster resilient, sustainable growth. The travel world now looks ahead to ATM 2026.

DUBAI: The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced the newest addition to its growing portfolio of culturally grounded and sustainable destinations: Al Rayaheen Retreat in Khorfakkan.
The unveiling marks a significant milestone in Shurooq’s broader strategy to enhance heritage tourism across the emirate, cementing Sharjah’s reputation as a unique destination that bridges tradition with innovation.
The Al Rayaheen Retreat was revealed as part of Shurooq’s active participation in Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, the region’s leading tourism and travel industry platform, which serves as a nexus for hospitality professionals and global developers to share insights and launch new ventures. The announcement was accompanied by progress updates on several key projects, including the eco-centric Nomad retreat in Kalba, the evolution of partnerships with The Lux Collective, and the development of Mleiha National Park as a flagship sustainable heritage destination.

Situated in the heart of Khorfakkan, Al Rayaheen Retreat is the latest property to join the Sharjah Collection – the emirate’s luxury hospitality brand dedicated to experiential, heritage-inspired stays. Comprising 20 meticulously restored heritage homes, the retreat is set within the historically rich Freej Al Rayhan (The Basil Neighbourhood), an area once known for its flourishing Rayhan (basil) plants.

The largest home in the retreat, formerly owned by the Al Mushtagal family, has been transformed into a multifunctional space featuring a restaurant, a reception lounge, and a curated mini museum. The remaining 19 units are configured into one- to four-bedroom residences, each preserving its original architectural features, including internal courtyards and indigenous trees estimated to be over 100 years old.
This restoration project, spearheaded by Shurooq in collaboration with the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, was implemented under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The development adheres to UNESCO-aligned conservation standards, ensuring historical authenticity while introducing contemporary amenities for a refined visitor experience.
Al Rayaheen offers not only accommodation but a selection of curated leisure and tourism activities. Guests can engage in kayaking, guided shoreline tours, watersports, and cultural excursions that reveal the natural and historical depth of Khorfakkan’s surroundings.
Heritage and hospitality
Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Shurooq, underscored the strategic importance of the retreat, describing it as a model for responsible heritage tourism that both preserves and revitalises cultural memory. “The addition of Al Rayaheen Retreat represents a cornerstone in Shurooq’s vision to build culturally rooted destinations that inspire sustainable tourism practices and highlight the emirate’s architectural legacy,” he said.

Al Qaseer added that all properties under the Sharjah Collection are overseen directly by Shurooq to ensure they align with environmental, social, and cultural sustainability goals. He noted that Khorfakkan’s appeal lies in its natural diversity and historical richness, elements that Al Rayaheen has been designed to complement and elevate.
Through its participation at ATM 2025, Shurooq reaffirmed its dedication to integrated development models that generate local economic benefits, support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and expand tourism capacity without compromising ecological balance.
Nomad and LUX projects
Among other major updates presented at ATM 2025, Shurooq revealed new details about Nomad, an upcoming eco-retreat in Kalba. Designed with sustainability at its core, the retreat features 20 luxury trailers positioned within one of the most biodiverse areas of the emirate. The accommodation units are powered by solar energy and built from eco-conscious materials that blend into the surrounding environment.
Nomad is slated to open in Q3 2025 and will serve as a pioneering model for mobile luxury eco-tourism. It is expected to attract travellers seeking immersive natural experiences without the environmental footprint of conventional hospitality.
Shurooq also spotlighted its deepening partnership with The Lux Collective, with the announcement of a rebrand for one of its flagship properties. The resort previously known as LUX Al Jabal will now operate as LUX Khorfakkan, emphasising its deep connection to the coastal city’s identity and natural beauty.
Located between Khorfakkan and Luluya, LUX Khorfakkan will open in Q4 2025, featuring 45 bespoke accommodation units. The resort design incorporates PEFC-certified Finnish timber and other sustainable architectural elements. Meanwhile, LUX Al Bridi in Al Dhaid is scheduled for a Q1 2026 launch, offering 35 luxury safari-style tents within a 784-hectare nature reserve, adjacent to Sharjah Safari.
The collaboration aims to raise Sharjah’s international profile as a luxury tourism destination while embedding sustainability and cultural integrity into every aspect of guest experience.

One of the most ambitious initiatives showcased at ATM 2025 was the continued development of Mleiha National Park – a 34.2 square kilometre protected area that combines ecological preservation with cultural tourism. Recognised as one of the Arabian Peninsula’s most important archaeological sites, Mleiha has revealed evidence of human habitation dating back over 200,000 years.

At ATM, Shurooq presented “Mleiha: Ancient Treasures of the UAE”, a new visual reference book created in partnership with Assouline, now on display at the Shurooq pavilion. The book underscores the area’s archaeological and natural significance, aligning with Shurooq’s efforts to position the park as a centrepiece of sustainable and educational tourism.
Visitors to Mleiha National Park can choose from an array of activities, including desert trekking, paragliding, glamping, stargazing, and guided tours of pre-Islamic ruins. The destination merges ancient storytelling with modern recreational infrastructure, offering a truly immersive historical experience in a preserved natural setting.
As part of Shurooq’s broader mission, Mleiha serves as a case study for how environmental conservation and cultural heritage can be jointly leveraged to create sustainable economic opportunities and enrich the visitor journey.

DUBAI: Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has been awarded the Sustainable Stand Award at the 32nd edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), which wraps up today, at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
The accolade recognises DET’s commitment to responsible exhibiting practices, with 84 percent of its exhibition stand constructed from reused materials and 100 percent of the materials sourced locally. DET also achieved a targeted 10 percent reduction in carbon emissions, impressing an independent panel of judges with its measurable approach to sustainability.
The annual ATM stand awards are judged across seven categories, honouring creativity, eco-awareness, and business functionality among exhibitors. Airlines, destinations, and hotel groups were all among the winners at this year’s event.
How did DET go green?
DET’s focus on sustainability extended far beyond construction materials. The food and beverage menu exclusively featured plant-based, seasonal, and locally grown ingredients. Sustainable packaging and portion control were used to minimise food waste throughout the four-day event.
The stand also embraced paperless practices. Instead of printed brochures, visitors could access information via QR codes, with content delivered digitally. Eco-conscious giveaways and digital data capture replaced traditional collateral, sharply reducing paper waste and aligning with global sustainability standards.
The stand was described by judges as a leading example of data-driven, high-impact sustainability in action – a standout model for the industry to emulate.

Among other categories, Oman’s Ministry of Heritage & Tourism clinched the Best Stand Design Award (over 150sqm) with its culturally immersive and authentic space, which included live demonstrations of traditional handicrafts and a local food station.
The Best Stand Design Award (50sqm–150sqm) was won by HeyTrip International for its effective use of space and striking colour scheme, while FlyAkeed took home the award in the under 50sqm category, thanks to a futuristic LED-enhanced design.
What other innovations stood out?
Kerzner International Management stood out for its smartly configured two-level stand, winning the Best Stand for Doing Business Award. The layout featured spacious seating and segmented zones for general and private meetings – all designed to optimise both functionality and atmosphere.
The Best Use of Technology Award went to A.A. Al Moosa, whose interactive digital screen and 3D displays impressed judges with both form and function.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Tourism Promotion Board won Best Stand Feature for a large-scale stage used for immersive cultural showcases, which included music and dance performances, making the country’s cultural richness the focal point of its presentation.
The judging panel comprised industry experts including Nehme Shebab (RX Middle East), Philip Woolner (STR), Sarah Duigan (STR), Dominique Exmann (Oxford Economics), and Otag Fida (DXB Live). Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME for Arabian Travel Market, praised the outstanding quality and innovation on display across all categories this year.

DUBAI: Hospitality Management Holding (HMH), a Dubai-based hospitality group and a leading operator in the region’s dry hotel sector, marked its 15th consecutive appearance at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 with a major announcement on its expansion in Saudi Arabia.
The group revealed plans to strengthen its footprint across the Kingdom with the signing of new properties in Al Khobar and Makkah, reinforcing its commitment to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 tourism ambitions.
A key highlight of the expansion is the newly signed Corp Al Khobar Corniche Hotel, a 157-room property situated on the city’s scenic waterfront. Previously operating under Accor’s Mercure brand, the hotel will now be managed by HMH under its Corp Hotels brand. This move solidifies the group’s presence in the Eastern Province and responds to the growing need for high-quality hospitality offerings in the business and leisure travel segments.
In parallel, HMH has signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of an additional property in Dammam, signalling its intent to further penetrate strategic urban hubs across Saudi Arabia. These initiatives are complemented by the group’s upcoming flagship project in Makkah – a 460-room hotel set to open by mid-2025.
Faith-based tourism
The Makkah hotel, expected to begin operations shortly after the 2025 Hajj season, will significantly bolster HMH’s presence in the religious tourism market. With millions of pilgrims visiting the holy city annually, the new property aims to provide faith-based travellers with modern accommodation and seamless service during their spiritual journey. Designed to serve the evolving needs of Umrah and Hajj visitors, the hotel reflects HMH’s vision to cater to the demand for upscale yet culturally sensitive hospitality.
The Makkah launch is part of HMH’s broader strategy to position itself at the forefront of Saudi Arabia’s religious tourism boom, which continues to gain momentum with the government’s target of welcoming 150 million annual visitors by 2030. By developing properties in sacred and high-demand locations, HMH is positioning itself as a key enabler of the Kingdom’s hospitality infrastructure transformation.

Regional leadership
According to Haytham Abdelaziz, Chief Operating Officer of HMH, Saudi Arabia remains central to the company’s regional growth strategy. “Saudi Arabia is a strategic priority for HMH, fully aligned with Vision 2030’s transformative tourism goals and the rising demand for premium accommodation. The Al Khobar property strengthens our presence in the Eastern Province, while our forthcoming Makkah hotel will place us at the heart of religious tourism,” he noted. Abdelaziz also confirmed that HMH currently has over 6,000 rooms either operational or under development across the region.
Founded in 2003, HMH has grown into the largest operator of dry hotels in the MENA region. The group manages five distinct brands – Bahi Hotels & Resorts, Coral Hotels & Resorts, Corp Hotels, EWA Hotel Apartments and ECOS Hotels – covering a spectrum from luxury to lifestyle. Also in attendance were Lt. Col Muhammad Abdurrahman, Deputy Director of the Tourist Police Department; Lt. Col Mousa Mubarak Abdullah, Head of the Tourist Security Patrols Section; and a senior team from Mansory including Director Kourosh Mansory, Head of Design Saleh Abdullah, and Director of Operations Ahmad Al Abadi.
Power meets precision
The custom Cullinan delivers a formidable 610 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just five seconds. With a maximum speed of 280 km/h, the vehicle not only brings exceptional performance to the streets but also elevates the visual impact of the Dubai Police fleet.

The SUV features a host of premium modifications, crafted from high-grade carbon fibre and aluminium. Advanced technology, including high-resolution digital displays and custom interior fittings, further enhance the vehicle’s operational appeal and luxury feel. The eye-catching green and white police livery completes the high-profile presence of this unique patrol unit.
Brigadier Al Jallaf highlighted that such innovative vehicles strengthen the visibility of the force at major tourist hubs including Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, and Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), while reinforcing Dubai Police's image as a global leader in smart policing and innovation.

DUBAI: Abu Dhabi is embracing facial recognition technology to transform its hospitality landscape, with a smart new system designed to enhance guest safety and service efficiency.
Unveiled at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, the initiative is led by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), in partnership with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP).
The Face Recognition System, currently in a pilot phase, marks the first government-led collaboration of its kind between hotels and authorities in the emirate. This rollout reflects Abu Dhabi’s drive to maintain its leadership in global safety, having been named the world’s safest city in Numbeo’s Safety Index for nine consecutive years.
Smart tourism push
The system captures and analyses biometric data during guest check-in, cross-verifying it through ICP records and transmitting the data to a centralised database managed by DCT Abu Dhabi. All information is securely encrypted and handled in accordance with UAE cybersecurity and data protection laws, strictly for operational and safety purposes.
Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director-General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, highlighted the strategic vision behind the move: “The integration of the Face Recognition System underscores our shared commitment to pioneering advancements in smart tourism… ensuring a seamless, safer and more connected journey for every visitor.”
This tech-led solution is aimed at dramatically reducing check-in times, boosting accuracy in guest verification, and streamlining both check-in and check-out procedures.
https://www.travelsdubai.com/17-Apr-2025/uae-to-replace-emirates-id-with-new-biometric-facial-recognition-system
Hotel rollout begins
Initially, the system is being tested in a limited number of select hotels across Abu Dhabi. The first official phase of the full rollout will cover all five-star properties in Abu Dhabi city, the Al Ain Region, and the Al Dhafra Region. Four-star hotels will be included in the second phase, followed by a gradual extension to all remaining hotel categories.
DCT Abu Dhabi is actively coordinating with hotel operators to ensure the implementation is seamless. This includes comprehensive training sessions, technical assistance, and step-by-step briefings to support hotel staff in integrating the new system.
The wider aim is to digitise the travel experience, aligning with the UAE’s ongoing digital transformation agenda in key economic sectors such as tourism and hospitality.
Tourism surge
The new system’s unveiling comes at a time when Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector is posting strong growth figures. In Q1 2025 alone, the emirate welcomed 1.4 million overnight visitors, with leading source markets including India, China, Russia, the UK, and the US.
Revenue from hotels reached Dh2.3 billion (US$626 million), an 18 per cent rise from the same period in 2024. Revenue per available room (RevPAR) hit Dh484, marking a 25 per cent year-on-year increase. Hotel occupancy levels also stayed robust, averaging 79 per cent – even through Ramadan.
With tourism expected to contribute Dh62 billion to the local economy this year – a 13 per cent increase over 2024 – and support 255,000 jobs across the emirate, the push for smart, secure travel solutions reflects Abu Dhabi’s larger strategy to remain a global tourism powerhouse.

DUBAI: Germany’s pledge to redefine tourism through sustainability took centre stage at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 in Dubai, where the German National Tourist Office Gulf Countries (GNTO), in partnership with Lufthansa Group Airlines, unveiled its forward-looking strategy for attracting Gulf travellers.
Held on Monday, 28 April, the exclusive press conference attracted regional media and key tourism stakeholders, signalling a renewed commitment to responsible tourism and enhanced connectivity between the Gulf and Germany.
GNTO’s Director for the Gulf Countries, Yamina Sofo, outlined Germany’s evolving approach to tourism in the context of environmental responsibility, inclusivity, and cultural exploration. Highlighting the country's Sustainability Awards, Sofo praised the impact of regional journalism in inspiring eco-conscious travel. Among the awardees, Al Jazeera’s Mohammed Benkacem was honoured for his outstanding contribution to sustainable tourism storytelling – a landmark moment in Germany–Gulf cooperation.
Green priorities
With sustainability taking precedence, Sofo invited Gulf travellers to explore Germany beyond traditional tourist hotspots, encouraging visits to regions showcasing green mobility, eco-friendly accommodation, and community-based experiences. Her message resonated strongly in the context of ATM 2025’s overarching theme: “Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity.”
In an engaging Q&A session, Sofo addressed Gulf journalists’ questions about Schengen visa accessibility – a topic of growing importance in the region. She also pointed to rising demand among GCC tourists for personalised, wellness-oriented, and climate-conscious experiences, stating that Germany is well-equipped to meet these evolving expectations.
Airline collaboration
Luis Monreal, Lufthansa Group’s Senior Director of Sales Middle East, elaborated on the airline’s environmental initiatives aimed at cutting emissions and modernising its fleet. Lufthansa’s agenda includes integrating Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), improving fuel efficiency, and investing in next-generation aircraft technology – steps that reflect a shared commitment with GNTO to carbon-conscious tourism.
Monreal also highlighted increased capacity and frequency of flights connecting the Middle East and Germany, providing GCC travellers with improved access to multiple German cities while reducing the ecological footprint of travel. This synergy between airline infrastructure and destination readiness positions Germany as a top contender for Gulf tourists seeking sustainable yet luxurious holidays.
The 32nd edition of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 28 April to 1 May, ATM 2025 boasts a record-breaking 2,800 exhibitors from 161 countries, with an anticipated 55,000 attendees.

DUBAI: Business travel in 2025 remains resilient, but powerful new forces are reshaping how and why professionals journey for work. Economic stability, shifting budgets, technological advancements, sustainability priorities, and evolving traveller expectations have emerged as defining influences. As the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 officially opened today at Dubai World Trade Centre, these themes took centre stage at the newly launched IBTM@ATM Zone, drawing key voices from across the sector.
Gathered at the debut of the Business Events Stage, regional and international experts discussed the strong but changing corporate travel landscape. In a session titled State of the Nation: Navigating the Future of Business Travel in the Middle East, presented in partnership with the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), analysis centred on the market forces steering business travel spending and strategies.
What drives change?
Catherine Logan, Regional Senior Vice President EMEA and APAC at GBTA, underscored that while business travel remains critical in 2025, ongoing transformational change is unavoidable. “Economic stability, budgetary considerations, remote and hybrid work models, technological disruption, the evolution of sustainable practices, and traveller-centric approaches will collectively redefine how companies manage corporate mobility,” she explained. Logan further emphasised that responsibly managed business travel serves as a significant catalyst for advancing business objectives, governmental initiatives, economic growth, and individual empowerment.
How is the Middle East performing?
Fresh data from the 2024 GBTA Business Travel Index Outlook Report provided compelling context. The Middle East now accounts for 1.2 percent of global business travel expenditure, having surpassed all other regions in the post-COVID recovery. Regional business travel spending in 2024 reached Dh66.47 billion ($18.1 billion), marking a 19.4 percent increase compared to pre-pandemic levels. Moreover, forecasts project a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.1 percent in 2025, further establishing the Middle East’s growing strategic importance within the global corporate and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) landscape.
Ciaran Kelly, Managing Director of Middle East & Africa at FCM Travel, pointed to buoyant regional demand driven by extensive public and private sector projects. “It is almost impossible to get a seat on a plane from Dubai to Riyadh. Hotel occupancy across the region is consistently around the 70 to 80 percent mark, the highest globally, creating significant pressure but reflecting extremely strong fundamentals,” he said.
Kelly’s observations illustrated the momentum underpinning Middle Eastern markets. Increasing flight demand, limited hotel availability, and robust infrastructure investment were cited as critical factors accelerating growth across key destinations.

What insights are shared?
Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME for Arabian Travel Market, highlighted the value of the IBTM@ATM sessions. “Understanding the shifts in business travel spending is essential for companies that want to remain competitive and resilient in a fast-evolving market. Sessions like this at IBTM@ATM provide actionable insights and real-world analysis, empowering attendees to navigate shifting travel patterns and identify new opportunities across the Middle East and beyond,” she noted.
The Business Events Stage will continue offering rich insights through Wednesday, 30 April. Upcoming sessions include explorations of artificial intelligence integration in business travel, strategies for future-proofing corporate mobility programmes, debates on human connection versus AI in events, innovations in Chinese outbound MICE travel, and critical discussions around achieving net zero carbon emissions in the global events industry.
Climate action remains a strong theme, with panels dedicated to forging strategic partnerships that advance environmental stewardship across business travel sectors.

DUBAI: Etihad Airways has taken a bold step in redefining luxury air travel with the unveiling of its new Airbus A321LR at the 2025 Arabian Travel Market (ATM).
As the airline aims to expand its reach and fleet ahead of its 2030 vision, the A321LR represents a major leap forward in offering a truly premium experience on short and medium-haul flights. This latest aircraft is poised to offer passengers an unparalleled level of comfort and service previously reserved for long-haul routes.
The A321LR, an extended range version of Airbus’s A321 aircraft, is set to revolutionise regional air travel. Etihad's decision to configure this narrowbody aircraft with a luxurious three-class cabin highlights the airline’s commitment to bringing world-class service to even the shortest of flights. With its signature First Suite, lie-flat Business class seats, and spacious Economy, the A321LR offers a seamless, high-end travel experience on destinations as varied as Athens, Bangkok, and Zurich.
The First Suite experience
Etihad’s First Suite is undoubtedly the highlight of the A321LR’s cabin design. These ultra-premium suites, with only two available per aircraft, offer a level of privacy and comfort rarely found on narrowbody jets. The suites feature a lie-flat bed, a large 20” 4K screen, wireless charging, and Bluetooth pairing for a truly personalised experience.
In the First Suite, guests can indulge in a bespoke dining service, enjoy exclusive entertainment, and immerse themselves in the type of luxury typically reserved for wide-body, long-haul flights. This introduction marks the first time Etihad has brought its iconic First class experience to a narrowbody aircraft, further reinforcing the airline’s reputation for offering exceptional service.
As Etihad CEO Antonoaldo Neves explained, “We’re bringing First to more destinations, elevating it at every touchpoint. With the A321LR, we’re able to offer our guests the comfort, space, and personalised service that defines the Etihad brand.”
Business Class
Business class aboard the A321LR also boasts extraordinary features. The cabin includes 14 lie-flat seats with direct aisle access, arranged in a herringbone layout. Each seat transforms into a 78” fully flat bed, perfect for longer regional flights. The seats come equipped with a 17.3” 4K screen, Bluetooth headphones, and ample personal storage, ensuring both comfort and connectivity.
Etihad has successfully replicated the wide-body Business class experience on a narrowbody aircraft, providing passengers with the same high-quality service and amenities they would expect on Etihad’s long-haul aircraft.
Economy Class
Economy class on the A321LR doesn’t take a backseat to the First or Business cabins. Etihad has designed the 144 Economy seats with ergonomics in mind, offering generous recline and ample legroom. At 18.4” wide, these seats are among the widest in the industry, offering exceptional comfort for regional flights. Each seat comes with a 13.3” 4K touchscreen, USB charging, and access to the airline’s next-generation entertainment system.
Moreover, Etihad has equipped the aircraft with Viasat’s multi-orbit Wi-Fi system, ensuring seamless connectivity throughout the flight. With speeds of up to 1 Gbps, passengers can enjoy streaming, social media, and even live television, keeping them connected and entertained throughout their journey.
Expanding the fleet for 2030
The A321LR is part of Etihad’s bold expansion plan as the airline targets more than 170 aircraft by 2030. The first A321LR will enter service on 1 August 2025, with ten aircraft joining the fleet this year alone. By 2030, Etihad expects to increase its passenger numbers threefold, aiming to serve over 30 million passengers annually.
The aircraft will fly from Abu Dhabi to several destinations, including Algiers, Athens, Bangkok, and Zurich, connecting Etihad’s guests to both leisure and business hubs across the globe. The airline’s goal is to provide a seamless, luxury experience across all its routes, including on the A321LR network.
As part of its expansion strategy, Etihad plans to introduce 16 new destinations in 2025, with the A321LR forming a central part of its fleet renewal programme. This fleet expansion is expected to significantly contribute to the airline’s growth in the coming years, driving tourism and economic development in Abu Dhabi.
Luxury beyond the aircraft
Etihad’s commitment to luxury extends beyond the aircraft itself. The airline is rolling out several new services in line with the introduction of the A321LR, including the Etihad Concierge service for First class passengers. Available 24/7, the Etihad Concierge provides personalised travel planning and assistance for premium guests.
Guests flying in First class will also benefit from a seamless door-to-door experience, with chauffeur services in the UAE, dedicated check-in facilities, and access to the exclusive Etihad First Lounge. In Abu Dhabi, First passengers will soon enjoy additional services, including complimentary Home Check-In and Land & Leave services, offering a baggage-free airport experience.
The unveiling of the A321LR at ATM 2025 marks a significant moment for Etihad as it continues to position itself as a leader in luxury aviation. The airline’s commitment to innovation and excellence was on full display at the Dubai World Trade Centre, where travel professionals from across the globe gathered to showcase the latest in tourism and aviation.

DUBAI: Emirates and flydubai have reached a significant milestone, collectively transporting over 5 million passengers across their joint network in the past year.
This achievement reflects a remarkable 36 percent growth in passenger numbers compared to the previous year. The airlines’ partnership, which began in 2017, continues to reshape air travel by offering unparalleled connectivity and flight options for passengers travelling to, from, and through Dubai.
The announcement comes as part of the 2025 Arabian Travel Market (ATM), the region’s leading travel and tourism event, which brings together industry professionals from around the world for four days in Dubai.
The partnership between Emirates and flydubai is a key example of how collaboration in the aviation industry can drive growth and foster global connectivity. The five million passengers flown represents a significant leap in their efforts to make Dubai one of the most connected cities in the world, aligning with the city’s ambitious D33 vision to become a global economic and tourism hub.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Group and Chairman of flydubai, said: "The Emirates and flydubai partnership has been a gamechanger for both carriers. It is a testament to collaborative excellence that has delivered more flight options and a better experience for travellers, underpinned by a vast network that connects every corner of the globe. I’m immensely proud of what has been achieved so far, and look forward to the next phase of growth and impact that both Emirates and flydubai will have on enhancing Dubai’s connectivity and shaping the future of air travel across regions.”
Emirates and flydubai’s global reach
Emirates and flydubai’s combined network has grown from just 29 cities in 2017 to a vast 240 destinations across more than 100 countries. This joint effort has allowed both airlines to complement each other’s strengths – Emirates offering long-haul flights, while flydubai focuses on regional and underserved markets. With more than 295 codeshare flights each day, passengers now have access to an expanded choice of destinations, making travel from Dubai more seamless than ever before.
Flydubai operates more than 330 weekly flights from Dubai’s Terminal 3 to popular destinations such as Zanzibar, Kathmandu, Krabi, and Riyadh, while Emirates customers now have access to over 132 flydubai destinations. This collaboration provides customers with more flexibility in choosing their travel times and offers greater convenience, creating a truly integrated air travel experience.
Strengthening Dubai’s global connectivity
Emirates and flydubai’s partnership has played a crucial role in boosting Dubai’s position as a global transportation hub. Through this collaboration, the airlines have integrated their flight schedules, baggage handling, check-in processes, and airport services to provide a seamless journey for travellers. By operating from Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, they offer convenient transfers, reducing wait times and enhancing the overall customer experience.
This synergy has also helped Dubai expand its global footprint, particularly in markets that were previously underserved by UAE-based airlines. Emirates and flydubai have enhanced connectivity to key regions in the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia, making Dubai the go-to gateway for passengers looking to explore the wider world.
Demand for premium services
The demand for Emirates and flydubai services has surged in recent years, with a particular increase in premium cabin bookings, which rose by 31%. This reflects the growing appeal of Dubai as a luxury travel destination, supported by the airlines' world-class services. Passengers now have even more reasons to choose Dubai as their transit hub, thanks to the high-quality services on offer from both Emirates and flydubai.
Emirates has also expanded its network in the past year, adding new flights to Bogotá, Colombia, and Antananarivo, Madagascar. Flydubai, on the other hand, has introduced 10 new destinations, including Antalya, Basel, and Al Alamein, in time for the summer season. The addition of these new routes aligns with the airlines’ broader strategy to provide travellers with even more options, enhancing Dubai’s connectivity with regions around the world.

Loyalty and customer benefits
One of the standout features of the Emirates-flydubai partnership is the seamless integration of their loyalty programme, Emirates Skywards. With more than 35 million members worldwide, Skywards continues to offer members the ability to earn and redeem Miles on both Emirates and flydubai flights. This unified approach ensures that frequent travellers enjoy a consistent and rewarding experience, regardless of which airline they choose.
The Emirates Skywards programme is particularly attractive for those flying frequently between the two carriers’ extensive networks. It allows members to accumulate and spend Miles across more than 240 destinations, providing rewards on a vast scale. This strong loyalty base continues to contribute to the success of both airlines, reinforcing their position as leaders in the travel industry.
Looking ahead
With new routes being launched regularly and ongoing innovations in customer experience, the future looks bright for the Emirates-flydubai partnership. The airlines are set to increase their global network, introduce more codeshare flights, and continue investing in customer services that further elevate the travel experience.
At ATM 2025, the Emirates and flydubai partnership has proven to be a key player in the continued success of UAE’s aviation industry. As the two carriers continue to grow and innovate, they are setting the stage for even greater achievements, strengthening Dubai’s position as the world’s premier travel hub.
Looking forward, both airlines have ambitious plans for further expansion.

In the cruise travel segment, Emirates strengthened its ties with Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), signed an agreement with Hapag-Lloyd, and extended its partnership with MSC Cruises. These alliances will drive luxury cruise packages and increase passenger flows through Dubai and other key homeports. The airline is working with its cruise partners to elevate Dubai’s status as a leading hub for cruise tourism.

The airline also officially activated its codeshare with Condor and signed a new agreement with Air Seychelles, opening up new connectivity options for its customers.
Beyond air travel, Emirates targeted high-growth sectors including MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), the international student market, and SMEs. With new partnerships, Emirates aims to enhance travel convenience and offer tailored benefits for these segments.

With a diversified portfolio spanning key cities and desirable destinations, HMH’s expansion reflects a sustained commitment to innovation, quality, and regional hospitality leadership.

Dubai Police have officially expanded their high-performance fleet with the introduction of a customised Rolls-Royce Cullinan, unveiled at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 at Dubai World Trade Centre.
The vehicle, developed in collaboration with German luxury modification house Mansory, was revealed during a ceremony led by Brigadier Khalfan Obaid Al Jallaf, Director of the Tourist Police Department.
